Kandy
Il est temps de quitter Sigiriya et de se diriger vers Kandy. Un incontournable est le célèbre Temple de la Dent, construit pour protéger la relique de la canine de Bouddha. L'histoire de la relique implique un long récit, remontant à la crémation de Bouddha où la dent aurait survécu. Luttée et associée à des miracles, elle est devenue un site sacré dédié à cette dent vénérée. Le temple est orné d'or et d'art, et le musée offre une riche exposition. Le soir, une performance de danse traditionnelle est au programme. C'était sans doute l'une des pires vues. Désireux de faire une randonnée, le lendemain, nous explorons le moins connu Hanthana. Arrivant à un endroit le long des champs de thé, nous gravissons une colline. L'ascension raide nécessite un moment de récupération au sommet. Ensuite, nous découvrons les environs en tuktuk, un spectacle à couper le souffle. Le lendemain sera une journée de voyage.

One of the main attractions in Kandy is the temple of the tooth. It was built to safeguard Buddha's canine tooth relic. The relic's history involves a lengthy narrative, tracing back to Buddha's cremation where the tooth supposedly survived. Fought over and associated with miracles, it has become a sacred site dedicated to that revered tooth. The temple is adorned with gold and art, and the museum offers a rich display.

Hiking in unknown Hanthana
Hiking in Hanthana, a picturesque mountain range located near Kandy in Sri Lanka, offers outdoor enthusiasts a wonderful adventure. The Hanthana mountain range is known for its lush, tropical forests and diverse wildlife. Hikers can explore numerous trails that wind through dense vegetation, leading to viewpoints that provide stunning panoramas of the surrounding countryside. The cool, misty climate in the higher elevations is a welcome respite from the tropical heat, making it an ideal location for hiking. You can also drive around the area and see numerous tea plantations.

We have been here twice because we loved this place so much, so I can highly recommend.
