20km of beauty

Save the best for last, they say right? Well, that's truly the case for this hike. Autumn colours turned brighter each day, the sun was out and there were barely any other people out on the trail. At times, it felt like walking through a painting.

And then there was a glacier

One of the highlights of the hike was witnessing the Adishi glacier - so incredible to see the bright white glacier in the midst of lush greenery! Once you reach the glacier, there is an icy cold river you need to cross in order to continue the hike. There were a few others who took off there shoes and braved the water with their bare feet, but after seeing their pained expressions, we decided to get some assistance of the locals, who carried us across on the back of their horses. We were happy our feet stayed dry (and warm) and they were happy as they earned as much money in 5 minutes as they would usually in a whole day.

Pour profiter au maximum de notre temps, nous avions prévu qu'un chauffeur nous rencontre à Iprali en fin d'après-midi et nous conduise à notre prochaine destination (environ 4h).

On the road to Kutaisi via Ushguli

You can technically still walk a fourth day (from Iprali to Ushguli), but we had heard the trail wasn't as nice and ran along a busy road for a fair distance, so we decided to head to our next stop. On our way to Kutaisi area we luckily still got a chance to see the UNESCO town of Ushguli.
