India
Commencez votre aventure à Delhi
Namaste ! Bienvenue en Inde. Votre aventure commence à Delhi, où vous explorerez à la fois le Vieux et le Nouveau Delhi. Prêt pour une journée pleine de contrastes et de surprises ?
Step into the heart of Old Delhi at Jama Masjid
No better way to start your Old Delhi adventure than by kicking off in the heart of the city. Your first stop of the day will be Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosques in India. This iconic mosque has majestic domes and towering minarets, an influence that stems back from the Mughals. You will feel very small when you’re standing in the middle of the courtyard whilst looking at this giant mosque ;-). It has a super cool and epic vibe! We really suggest discovering all corners of the courtyard, too, as the views from each one are different. For example, the view from the left side (when standing in front of the mosque), offers a fun view of the bustling street and adjacent sheep garden. If you’re lucky you might even spot some sheep grazing peacefully!

Spice things up at Chandni Chowk
Continue your day by walking through the bustling lanes of Chandni Chowk, Old Delhi's most famous market. Here you will definitely get a “sensory overload”: scents, shops, and so many people everywhere! The most interesting thing you can do here is seeing, tasting, and maybe even buying all different kinds of spices, for that you have to head over to Khari Baoli. Take some pictures of all the bags of spices, or why not even buy some as a gift or souvenir? Whatever you do, Chandni Chowk offers a real treasure trove of experiences waiting to be discovered.
Unravel the history of Red Fort
Located in Chandni Chowk you’ll find the majestic Red Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site as of 2007, and your last stop in Old Delhi. The iconic red sandstone walls are something you will have seen before if you visited other cities in India as well. They are a beautiful design from Mughal influence, but what’s even more interesting is that the Red Fort was designed by the same man that constructed the Taj Mahal! Talk about a proven track record ;-). For things you can do here, make sure to check out the amazing gardens, and if you’re visiting during the evening there’s also a lightshow. The Red Fort is really big, so we suggest around two hours to fully appreciate all its glory. Keep in mind that the Red Fort is closed to visitors on Mondays!

Explore the beauty of Humayun’s Tomb
Time to leave Old for New and discover Humayun’s Tomb, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and another masterpiece of Mughal architecture. Admire the symmetrical gardens and majestic dome of this historic mausoleum, which serves as a timeless tribute to the legacy of Emperor Humayun. It is a pretty big monument, with a lot of other monuments on site as well. We suggest heading straight to the “main monument”, Humayun’s Tomb, as that will take the most time to fully explore. Go up the stairs of the mausoleum, admire the view of the adjacent gardens, get a picnic in one of the gardens, take tons of pictures,... the possibilities at this place are endless! Once you get that out of the way, it’s time to visit the other monuments as well. You can visit Mausoleum Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia Dargah or the smaller Batashewala Complex. Hours of fun guaranteed!

End your day at Safdarjung Tomb
End your day with a visit to Safdarjung Tomb, a peaceful hidden gem in the heart of New Delhi. If we’re comparing it to Humayun’s Tomb, Safdarjung Tomb doesn’t even come close. It’s way smaller, there is less to do, and “looks wise” it doesn’t take the cake either. However, we put it on this list because it’s a place that almost no tourists (or even locals) visit! When we mentioned to locals that we were going to visit Safdarjung Tomb, they all looked so surprised. This alone is worth a visit in our opinion! And even though it isn’t as shiny or fancy like its “big brother” Humayun, you can still have a great time here. Especially couples, because of its smaller size it makes for a great date or intriguing chat.
