Strolling around and eating vegetarian food in Polopos

Polopos, a typical white mountain village, is definitely worth a visit. Just wandering around the narrow alleys is a pleasure to do. And you will immediately notice: it is extremely quiet. Especially in the low season. Upon entering the town, only three little dogs were waiting for us. And on almost every street corner there was a little cat sleeping. But residents we hardly encountered. Not entirely illogical, since Polopos has only about 60 inhabitants these days. Right in the middle of the village you bump into the terrace of la Cantina Verde. The name gives it away: a vegetarian restaurant run by a Dutch couple who fell for Polopos' charms a few years ago. Esther conjures up (mostly) vegetarian dishes, while René gives guests a warm welcome and talks passionately about the local wines they serve. It turned out to be a very tasty afternoon and la Cantina Verde may seem unexpected, but it fits perfectly into the frame of Polopos. Furthermore, you can do some very nice hiking around Polopos, or drive even further up where you will find the wine route with some authentic bodegas.
