Workation in Zadar: my favorite spots to explore after hours
Activity
€ 100 - 250
I spent a week in and around Zadar, Croatia, on a solo workation. During the day I worked remotely, but once I closed my laptop, I grabbed my rental car from Sunny Cars (fully insured, super easy) and hit the road to explore the beauty of this region. Here are some of the highlights from my after-hours adventures:
• Evening 1 – Zadar old town
I wandered through the charming old center of Zadar and ended the evening at the famous Sea Organ on the pier, where the waves create music as they roll in. A relaxing spot at sunset, even if there's lots of people.
• Evening 2 – Pag Island
I drove to Pag, known for its moonlike landscapes. The highlight? A stop at the Life on Mars Trail Viewpoint, followed by a short walk down to the secluded Beach Ručica. Quiet, raw nature, and very clear water. I was made to lay on a beach on a thursday evening.
• Evening 3 – Šibenik sunset
I didn’t fall in love with Šibenik itself, but I did witness one of the most beautiful sunsets of my life. Head to the location pinned as Bridge to Školjić Island on Google Maps, which leads to St. Nicholas Fortress. The light here in the evening was out of this world.
• Saturday – Krka National Park & Split
I spent the Saturday exploring Krka National Park (less crowded than Plitvice and absolutely stunning), then continued to Split for dinner and an evening stroll along the Riva promenade.
• Sunday – Plitvice Lakes National Park
A must-see. The Plitvice waterfalls are breathtaking and well worth the longer drive inland. Go early to beat the crowds!
• Final evening – Zrmanja River viewpoint
On my last night, I drove to Parizevačka glavica, a viewpoint overlooking the stunning Zrmanja River canyon. It's quiet and dramatic.
