Ha Giang Loop: Four days on the edge of the world
If you ever want to feel completely free, do the Ha Giang Loop on a motorbike. It’s four days of riding along jaw-dropping mountain roads, through misty valleys, next to cliffs that drop straight down into rivers. It’s wild and beautiful and a little scary sometimes—but that’s what makes it so good. Every day felt different. One morning we were weaving through limestone peaks in the clouds, the next we were cruising through golden rice fields in full sun. We'd stop in small towns, eat noodle soup for breakfast, drink strong Vietnamese coffee, and end the day with cold beers and sore arms. The best part? The people! Locals waving from the roadside, kids shouting "hello!" as you pass, and the mix of travelers you meet at night all buzzing from the same adventure. It’s intense, yes—but I’d do it again in a heartbeat.
