Halong Bay

The next destination was immediately a highlight: Halong Bay! We chose to stay in Cat Ba, close to the iconic bay. The transfer required some puzzle-solving: first a taxi to the ferry (Bến phà Gót), then a 30-minute crossing, followed by another half-hour taxi ride to our hotel, Yen Hidden Valley. We booked the entire journey through the hotel. Perhaps a bit more expensive than if you arrange everything yourself, but with two small children, we bought just a bit more peace – and it was more than worth it at that time. We stayed here for two nights. The only full day we spent (of course) on a cruise through Halong Bay. Afterwards, we briefly explored Cat Ba itself before moving on.
