Vietnam
Ninh Binh
Today, you'll taste the best egg coffee in Vietnam, go on a Trang An boat tour, and hike to Mua Cave.
Start your day with a taste of heaven at Cafe The Began
Vietnam is famous for its tasty coffee, so what better way to kickstart your day than with a heavenly cup? At Cafe The Began, we tried the best egg coffee during our trip in Vietnam. The Korean-Vietnamese couple that own this cafe and adjacent hotel have a special egg coffee recipe that will blow your mind. It’s sweet and strong in all the best ways possible, and will definitely give you a boost for the rest of your day.
A quick five-minute scooter ride takes you to your next adventure.
Take a Trang An boat tour
Next up, a magnificent river boat tour that will take you to temples through caves, and passing by a movie set! Of course, we won’t spoil the surprise of what to expect, but just know that the Trang An Boat tour is in our top 3 must-do’s in Vietnam. The tour itself lasts between 2 and 3 hours, and costs 250k VND (€ 9). This might seem expensive for Vietnamese standards, but it is so worth it! You'll see all sorts of amazing nature, some temples and culture in between, and visit multiple caves by boat!
An eight-minute scooter ride brings you to your next destination.
Have a (late) lunch at Tom Bop Bar
On to an amazing lunch (or even dinner) spot with the friendliest staff. This place is so great that we came back multiple times during our limited time in Ninh Binh. They are so friendly and helpful here, it feels a bit like coming home. Make sure to order their homemade French fries at least once! We tried a lot of dishes here and they all tasted really good, you can’t go wrong with whatever’s on the menu. If you’re in the mood for something sweet, then definitely go for their homemade apple crumble ;-)
A quick four-minute scooter ride takes you to the final stop of the day.
Amazing views at Mua Cave
Another must-do activity in Vietnam is a hike to the Mua Cave. The hike itself is just steps and steps upwards to the summit of the mountain - no fun in that. But, once you're at the top you'll forget about all that misery you put yourself through. The views here are just spectacular. We suggest going all the way and taking the slightly longer trail to the dragon (not the pagoda), because the views are way better and you'll have a little extra exercise under your belt ;-)
