Phi Phi Islands
Today you'll explore the most iconic places of the Phi Phi Islands!
Start your day at Maya Bay, famous by the movie “The Beach”
Your first stop is Maya Bay, famous by the movie “The Beach” with Leonardo DiCaprio. We recommend leaving the pier on Phi Phi Don around 6 AM, so that you can see the colors in the sky change every minute that you’re on the boat. The trip to Maya Bay takes around half an hour, which gives you some extra wiggle room before Maya Bay opens. By 6:50 AM, tell the captain to head to the entrance so that you can be among the first on the beach. You’ll be surprised at how crowded it is at this time, when we visited at 7 AM there were at least a hundred others before us. Luckily, the beach is quite big so you won’t have any trouble finding a place of your own. ;-) That’s the beauty of visiting at opening time!
Snorkeling at Pileh Lagoon
After soaking in the beauty of Maya Bay, set sail for Pileh Lagoon. This is a hidden gem nestled amidst towering limestone cliffs. Well, we say hidden because it is secluded, not because no-one knows about this place. ;-) This spot is quite popular, but because you’re so early chances are you have a big part of it to yourself! Put on your mask and tube, and dive into the emerald-green waters for an underwater adventure. But watch out for jellyfish, though! These little guys do not sting often, nor are their stings life-threatening, but you still want to avoid them. We speak from experience. ;-) You can easily spend a couple of hours here, whether it’s snorkeling, sunbathing, or just taking in the breathtaking surroundings.

Spot some monkeys at Monkey Beach
Before heading back to the final place of the day, make a memorable stop at Monkey Beach. Here you can encounter playful monkeys in their natural habitat. Make sure to hide all your food and stuff, because they will take it from you! And don’t think that you’re safe on the boat either, because these monkeys can (and will) swim to get anything they can get their hands on. Seeing monkeys swim was so cool, although we must admit that we maintained a safe distance from them. We didn’t want to lose our stuff, and also didn’t want to disturb them too much. The whole scene was pretty cool, it is really amazing to see these curious creatures swing from the trees, jump in the water, and interact with other visitors. We saw other people feed them, but would not recommend doing that.
Enjoy some delicious food at Patcharee
Your last stop of the day is Patcharee, a trendy place that serves all day brunch. The options and flavor-combinations here are endless. When we first saw the menu, we didn’t know what to choose! A great reason to come back a second time, we feel. ;-) This place is a true hotspot that’s bustling with people all day long. But, since you’ll be visiting at an irregular time, you will be fine in securing a table!
