Autumn vibes in Seville
During our workation in Andalucia we made a daytrip to Seville. From our location by the sea in Sanlúcar de Barrameda it was just a 75 min. ride to the city center of Seville. We enjoyed the many beautiful buildings and squares, eat some tapas and enjoyed the delicious Spanish wines!
Stroll around the old town
We parked our car in a garage near the football stadium of Sevilla FC, just a 5-minute metro ride from the old town. We started our walk at Puerta Jerez, walked around the cathedral, over the beautiful square 'Patio de Banderas', around the Real Alcazar garden all the way to the Plaza de España.
Plaza de España, Seville's most famous square
One of the most famous hotspots in Seville is most certain Plaza de España. This gigantic half rounded square was built for the World Expo in 1929 and shows all the 52 Spanish provinces in typical Andalusian tiles called 'azulejos'. The decorated bridges, the canal and the high towers assemble a majestic site you cannot skip while visiting Seville!
Riverwalk & old town
Walk from Plaza de España along the river towards the bullring. From here you can cross the old town towards our next stop: Metropol Parasol.

Metropol Parasol: the artistic viewpoint in the heart of the city
Where once was an old 'mercado' the city planned to build an underground parking complex. Build while digging started, they found large amounts of Roman and Moorish buildings hidden underneath. After a architectural contest was held, the city decided to build a museum for the old archeological buildings and a new mercado covered by the world's largest wooden architectural construction inspired by Antonio Gaudi and Calatrava: Metropol Parasol. You can walk both on top and underneath this construction. Especially during sunset the views over this vibrant city is a must see!
Alcuza: tapas and wine
While strolling through the center after sunset we stumbled upon what turned out to be a new tapas and wine bar that just opened 1 week earlier. We were one of the first foreign guests to experience this fine dining experience. While sipping our Spanish wines, we tasted both local cheese and seafood and were even invited into their kitchen to pick the prawns of our choice! Absolutely a place you need to check out on your next trip to Seville.
