Hike around the 4 lakes of the Jura

Les quatre Lacs are 4 lakes in Jura: Lac de Narlay, Lac d’Ilay, Le Grand Maclu and Le Petit Maclu. They are right next to one another, and you can easily hike around the 4 lakes in 3 hours. You can drive all the way to any of the 4 lakes, and you’ll find free parking lots near each lake. We started our walk from the campsite at Lac de Narlay. Important to know is that the hike around the four lakes does not include the 'Belvedere des 4 lacs.' Many pictures on Google might suggest that with the hike, you will also have an amazing panorama over the lakes, but this is not the case. We were also tricked in believing this, so take this as a warning. To see the lake panorama at the Belvedere, you'll have to go by car. You can drive all the way up the cliffs, right next to the viewpoint. There’s a free parking lot on the side of the road, and it’s a short 2 minutes walk from the parking spot to the viewpoint.

Taste the foods of the Jura

Foodies won't go hungry! Cheeses such as Comté, Morbier, Tomme du Jura, Bleu de Gex, Mont d'Or, local wines and unique grape varieties (Vin Jaune (yellow wine), Vin de Paille (straw wine), Macvin, Savagnin, Chardonnay), and cooked cold meats (smoked ham, Morteau sausage, etc.) are part of the Jura heritage. Make sure to try these when you are in the Jura.
