The Oeschinen Lake in Kandersteg is perhaps one of the most famous mountain lakes in Switzerland. It is also a major attraction for tourists and hikers in the summer. But even in winter, the lake is a beautiful spectacle. Due to the snow, there are obviously not as many hiking opportunities as in the summer, but the cable car takes you a long way. We went up with the cable car and made a beautiful walk towards the lake. Afterwards, we descended over a well-trodden snow path back down. The journey is about ten kilometers long with 100 meters of elevation gain. Tip: be sure to check in advance if the cable car is open.
