Canada
Icefields Parkway: part one
The first part of the famous Icefields Parkway, the road from Jasper to Banff that goes through the Canadian Rockies.

Goats and glaciers lookout
After we had breakfast at the Athabasca pass, we made a stop at the 'Goats and glaciers lookout'

Sunwapta falls
Next stop: the Sunwapta falls. Make sure to walk to the 'upper' and 'lower' falls. Most tourists stay at the begin point to see the upper falls, but we enjoyed the short walk down to also visit the lower falls.

Stutfield
Enjoy the view at Stutfield viewpoint.

Athabasca glacier
Before we visited the Athabasca glacier, we made a quick stop at the Tangle Creek Falls, but they were not really worth it. It's just next to the road and there are a lot of tourists making picture, blocking the view and the road. The Athabasca glacier is one of the most important and famous glaciers in Canada. With a guided walking tour, you can walk on the ice itself. We didn't do that, and just made a short walk closer to the glacier. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes as the trail is rocky. There are signs next to the trail, showing how much the glacier has lost of its volume.

Our stay for the night: The Crossing
We recommend staying a night on the Icefields Parkway, as you then are able to visit all viewpoints in a relaxed manner. However, there aren't many accommodations to stay, and they are also quite expensive. The Crossing is a motel in the middle of Icefields Parkway and was great for just one night. You can have breakfast, lunch and dinner (à la carte or buffet) at the motel's restaurant. We went for the à la carte dinner and it was excellent!
