Safari in the Ngorongoro Crater
An early wake-up call to go on an incredible safari in the Ngorongoro Crater. After a picnic lunch by the crater's lake, continue your journey to the Serengeti. While driving to your tented camp in the park, you'll have a first encounter with the Serengeti's amazing wildlife.
Descending into the Ngorongoro Crater
The day kicks off bright and early with a trip to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This feels like stepping into a live version of a nature documentary. The crater's unique ecosystem has it all: open grassland, forests, swamps and even an alkaline lake. It's one of the most densely populated wildlife areas in the world. Almost all large animals live here: lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, rhinos, zebras and wildebeest. The giraffe is notably absent. Their long legs and necks make the steep descent into the crater nearly impossible.
Onward to the Serengeti
While driving to your tented camp in Serengeti National Park, your base for the next two nights, you'll soon spot a lot of wildlife. A first safari in these endless plains the Maasai call "Serengeti", where vast grasslands alternate with the acacia trees and rocky hills that are so characteristic of Africa.
