Kandy
Time to leave Sigiriya and head to Kandy. A must-visit is the renowned Temple of the Tooth, built to safeguard Buddha's canine tooth relic. The relic's history involves a lengthy narrative, tracing back to Buddha's cremation where the tooth supposedly survived. Fought over and associated with miracles, it has become a sacred site dedicated to that revered tooth. The temple is adorned with gold and art, and the museum offers a rich display. In the evening, a traditional dance performance is on the agenda. It was arguably one of the worst witnessed. Keen on a hike, the next day, we explore the lesser-known Hanthana. Arriving at a spot along the tea fields, we climb a hill. The steep ascent requires a moment to recuperate at the summit. Afterwards we discover the surroundings by tuktuk, a breathtaking sight. The next day will be a travel day.

Hiking in unknown Hanthana
Hiking in Hanthana, a picturesque mountain range located near Kandy in Sri Lanka, offers outdoor enthusiasts a wonderful adventure. The Hanthana mountain range is known for its lush, tropical forests and diverse wildlife. Hikers can explore numerous trails that wind through dense vegetation, leading to viewpoints that provide stunning panoramas of the surrounding countryside. The cool, misty climate in the higher elevations is a welcome respite from the tropical heat, making it an ideal location for hiking. You can also drive around the area and see numerous tea plantations.

Dinner at the Hideout Lounge in Kandy is a delightful culinary experience that combines a cozy, laid-back atmosphere with delicious food. Located in the heart of Kandy, this restaurant offers a range of international and local dishes that cater to a variety of tastes. The warm and inviting ambiance, often accompanied by live music, creates the perfect setting for a relaxing evening. We have been here twice because we loved this place so much, so I can highly recommend.
