Roadtripping through Namibia is the most populair way of traveling the country. So the best option is renting a car for a self-drive. It gives you the freedom to visit places you choose and at your own pace. It is easy to drive through Namibia? Yes, It’s relatively easy to drive through Nambia. Most part of your road trip will be gravel roads. They might be quite bumpy but they are wide and there is very little traffic. Also keep in mind driving in Namibia is on the left side of the road. Here are our top tips for a self-drive around Namibia: - Hire a 4x4 In fact, you don’t need a 4x4 to travel around Namibia but we would highly recommend it. A normal car is fine, but a 4x4 will give you a more comfortable ride on the unsealed gravel autocorrection.cancel - Check on your tyres Check regularly on your tyres when you stop and make sure you know how to change them as the Namibian roads are not very tyre friendly - Have enough petrol in the tank One of our main driving tips is always to make sure to fill your petrol tank. Check every day how far you need to drive and how far apart petrol stations are as you don’t want to run out of petrol in the middle of nowhere - Keep a stash of water and snacks in the car Villages are few and far between, so sometimes there might be no access to food or drinks for hundreds of kilometers - Avoid driving at night Roads are poorly lit, many animals are active at night and the road conditions are not optimal
