Salò, one of the pearls of Lake Garda

Salò is located on the western shores of Lake Garda and is surrounded by a beautiful landscape, in the heart of the Lombardy region. Salò has a the longest ‘lungolago’ (promenade) of all the lakeside town offering a picturesque setting with the characteristic and colourful buildings and boats. It’s perfect for a romantic (evening) stroll with a relaxed atmosphere and a sunset aperitif. Next to that, Salò is also a cultural and historical gem. Within its walls, you can visit the cathedral, the Palazzo della Magnifica Patria, the Musa museum,… Salò is one of the oldest towns on Lake Garda.

Palazzo della Magnifica Patria and the Piazza della Vittoria

The Palazzo della Magnifica Patria, also called Palazzo del Podestà or Capitano Rettore, is today the seat of Salò’s town hall. By the lake and next to the town hall, you can find the Piazza della Vittoria, Salò’s main square. In the middle is standing the imposing war memoria. This square is also the docking area for the Navigazione Garda, for those who prefer to come to Salò by boat.
