I hadn’t heard much about Saint-Malo and was just passing through, but I decided to check out the town center within the fort's walls. I was surprised by how lively and fun it was. The vibe is great, with beaches, cafes, and restaurants all around. You can even walk along the massive walls surrounding the fort. Definitely worth a visit! Saint-Malo was a crucial stronghold for privateers and traders, fortified in the Middle Ages to protect its strategic location on the Brittany coast. Its long maritime history made it a key player in France’s naval dominance during the 17th and 18th centuries.
