Hidden behind the thick burgundy curtains of the Thompson Central Park Hotel lobby bar, you’ll find one of New York’s best kept burger secrets: Burger Joint. Set in a large high school-cafeteria style back room of one of many four-star New York hotels, this diner with an open kitchen and self-service does not exude the glamour of your average fancy restaurant. It feels slightly raw, über cool and very laid-back. You’re not here for fancy dining, you’re here for the best burgers in town. Juicy meat, soft bun, heavenly melted cheese, in short, the perfect “no frills” burger. Or “no muss no fuss” as they like to call it. And for those who do want to splurge, you can always add on “The Works” (that’s how they like to call their toppings). Several sides are available, but I would recommend to share one and go all-in on the toppings. Pictures don’t do it justice – just go and taste it yourself. Oh, they don’t take reservations – everybody waits in line. Even celebrities. Just so you know.
