Le Mont-Saint-Michel
Today we went to one of the most iconic places in France: Le Mont-Saint-Michel. From a distance, we saw the mysterious island rising from the mudflats, a fairy-tale sight that immediately made an impression.

Visiting Mont-Saint-Michel
Our visit to Mont-Saint-Michel began with a little surprise: the parking alone cost no less than €19. From the parking lot, we could choose between a shuttle bus or a walk of about 30 minutes to the town. My parents chose the convenience of the bus, but we had no choice, our little dog was not allowed on the shuttle bus, so walking was the only option. Fortunately, that didn't bother us. On the contrary, the walk was very pleasant. Along the way, we enjoyed a beautiful view of the iconic abbey, which towers like a fairy-tale castle above the landscape. The surrounding beach and the vast horizon also made the journey more than worthwhile. Once we arrived in the town itself, the enthusiasm did wane a bit. Mont-Saint-Michel is undoubtedly a charming, historic place with narrow streets, old buildings, and spectacular views, but it was so crowded that it was hard to enjoy. Our little dog didn't know where to go anymore, and I eventually had to pick him up to protect him from the crowd. Although the town certainly has its charm, I wouldn't really recommend visiting it. It's much more pleasant to admire Mont-Saint-Michel from a distance, where you can fully experience the magic of the place without the crowds.
