Less strolling, more swimming | 5 spots on Zakynthos

Zakynthos is kind of a one-trick pony, but it’s a really good trick. The sea here is so blue it makes pool water look murky. Add in a few quiet coves, wild cliffs, and a decent dose of sunshine, and you’ve got yourself a very pleasant week. Just don’t expect charming villages, cobbled streets or slow Greek island life, this place is more float & fry than flâner & feta. But hey, sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
Here’s how we made the most of it:
- Pervoli farmhouse – Sleep among olive trees, pick oranges for breakfast, and call it “a walk on the estate.”
- Mikro Nisi – A wooden dock, crystal-clear sea, and lunch with a salty breeze. Easy win.
- Agios Nikolaos & Nobelos – A rare hint of a boat parade, and a fancy lunch spot with a killer view.
- Taverna Apelati – Basically someone’s garden with the best food we had on the island.
- Porto Limnionas – Rugged rocks, snorkel-friendly water and no responsibilities. Yes please.
