Exploring Tofino
Discovering the lush hiking trails and pristine beaches around Tofino, a surfer's paradise.

Starting the day on the Rainforest Trail
Located in Pacific Rim National Park, the scenic Rainforest Trail is known for its majestic trees. The trail has two routes: route A and route B. We opted for route B which starts at the parking lot. It’s a leisurely 2 km stroll along a wooden boardwalk.

Schooner Cove Trail
When we were visiting Vancouver Island, the trail was closed due to severe storm damage. It's a short trail leading to a beach so definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.

Hiking to a plane crash site
My favourite hike on Vancouver Island! In 1945, a Canso Bomber met its fate in the Tofino rainforest, miraculously leaving all passengers unscathed. This 5 km trail to the crash site starts at the parking lot on Radar Hill Road, weaving through a dense forest and muddy terrain. After climbing up a small, steep hill, and stepping over large tree roots, the plane is on your left!

Ending the day at the beach
Cox Bay Beach, stretching nearly 1.5km, is a popular spot for surfers and sunset enthusiasts alike. Ideal to have a drink and watch the daily beach life! Craving a bit of adventure? At the far left of the beach, there's a trail leading to a lookout at the top of a hill. It's a short and steep hike, but the view over the bay makes it absolutely worth the effort. Insider tip: wear appropriate shoes, the trail can be muddy - even on a sunny day.
