Waterfalls & shrimps
Today we go for a medium long hike in the morning towards 2 waterfalls. We end the day with the most delicious shrimps we've ever eaten paired with an incredible sunset at the beach.

PR6: Levada 25 Fontes & Risco Waterfall
One of the more popular hiking routes on Madeira is the PR6. This +/- 9 km return route takes you down from the parking at the trailhead to 2 waterfalls. The first 2 km goes down via a paved road. After which you’ll reach a coffee house. From here you continue an off-road path through the woods to the Risco Waterfall. At the viewpoint you can take minute to relax and enjoy the spectacular waterfall crashing down from almost 100m high. Return via the same path for a few minutes until you reach the stairs down. Now you can follow the Levada 25 Fontes towards a beautiful spot in the middle of the jungle where the water comes down in 25 different small waterfalls in a circular end of a gorge. Note: the last part of this route is one direction. So make sure to continue left on your way up to the waterfall and use the stairs and the upper route to return. Don’t forget to enjoy a delicious cake on your way back in the coffee house!
The road down (ER211) towards Calheta is a beautiful road to enjoy the panoramic views over the southern coastline.
Chilling on the beach
We went back to the little pebble beach near Madalena do Mar called "Praia dos pescadores". It's a quiet beach and nice to relax after a hike, but we have a plan: sunset with delicious shrimps we tasted earlier this week!
Finger-licking-good shrimps
Are you in for a treat? We went to this beach bar (Blaiken) 2 times in one week to eat these finger-licking-good shrimps! Marinated in a sour-sweet oil and fresh herbs, these shrimps were the best we ever had. Go during sunset and enjoy this magical backdrop.
