Hike to the Schmidt-Zabierow-Hütte

This hike from the Loferer Hochtal to the Von Schmidt-Zabierow hut (1,966m) is a very impressive mountain experience. From Lofer, follow the 311 and then turn left into the Loferer Hochtal. The narrow road leads to a parking lot where the hike begins. The steep path is marked with the number 601 and leads up through a beech forest to the karst mountains from where you can catch a first glimpse of the Schmidt-Zabierow hut. The mountain scenery is spectacular and very dramatic. Although indicated as a black and thus difficult hiking route, I'd say it's somewhere between a medium and hard hike. With surefootedness in snow and good hiking boots, you shouldn't worry. In short: - 11 km - 1.500 m elevation gain
