We traveled from Tokyo to Hakone with the plan to climb Mount Fuji and explore the area by car. However, we quickly learned that our international driver’s license wasn’t properly translated and couldn’t be accepted. So instead, it turned into a spontaneous day trip around Hakone, including a visit to the incredible Open-Air Museum. It was still a beautiful experience, but if you plan to climb Mount Fuji and drive in the area, don’t make the same mistake we did — double-check your license requirements beforehand!
