Short but sweet introduction to Abruzzo
Heading further South, with a short stop in Abruzzo. A region with a famous national park and huge mountains.
Check-in at Il Pozzo dei Desideri
A very standard B&B, but with very friendly staff and a good location to discover the main highlights of Abruzzo: Il Pozzo dei Desideri in Castelnuovo. We stayed for only one night, and that's perfect if you just want to check out the mountain roads and villages during your stay here. Stay longer if you want to do hikes (which should be great to do here!).
Visit Santo Stefano di Sessanio
Drive to the mountain village Santo Stefano di Sessanio. A beautiful road, but the destination is even better. Get lost in the small streets here and enjoy a plate of Italian meat & cheese at Il Giardinetto!
Visit Castel del Monte
Quite abandoned, but very historical: the tiny village of Castel del Monte. It's especially nice to see from a distance (looks like a movie decor). From the inside, you'll only meet locals, cats and a few cafés. Worth a (short) visit. While driving back to Castelnuovo, you'll get treated to a wonderful sunset behind the mountains.
