Exploring Siargao by Scooter: A One-Day Itinerary

€ 1 - 50

One of the best ways to explore Siargao is by scooter. It's not only incredibly affordable but also a great way to see a lot in just one day. Renting a scooter for a day costs between 200 and 300 pesos (€5). On our day trip, we chose to stop at three must-visit locations: Coconut Plantation Viewpoint, Maasin River Bridge, and Sugba Lagoon. Stop 1: Coconut Plantation Viewpoint The first stop is the Coconut Plantation Viewpoint, about a 25-minute drive from General Luna, Siargao’s main tourist hub. From here, you get a stunning panoramic view of endless palm trees stretching across the landscape. It’s a quick stop, but definitely worth it for the scenery. Stop 2: Maasin River Bridge Next, we headed to Maasin River, about 18 km from General Luna. To find it easily, search for "Maasin Bridge River Swing" on Google Maps. After crossing the red bridge, you'll see the entrance on your left. The entrance fee is 30 pesos (€0.50). You can swim, rent a bamboo raft, or take a boat ride, this costs around 600 pesos (€10). Stop 3: Sugba Lagoon The last stop on this trip is Sugba Lagoon, which is a bit further away. You can also visit this as a separate day trip if you want more time there. From General Luna, you’ll ride your scooter to Del Carmen in western Siargao, which takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes. Here, you'll leave your scooter behind and take a small boat for another 20-minute ride to the lagoon. Boat rental costs around 2200 pesos (€35), but you can split this cost with others. Upon arrival, you’ll pay an additional 100 pesos (€1.65) entry fee and a 50 pesos (€0.80) environmental fee. At Sugba Lagoon, you can rent snorkeling gear, a kayak, or a paddleboard. There’s also a high diving board for those who want to take the plunge. If you prefer to relax, there's a designated swimming area and a covered terrace where you can buy food and drinks. These three stops are must-visits when in Siargao. You can visit them separately if you prefer a slower pace, or combine them into one adventurous day trip. Either way, exploring the island by scooter is a fun and budget-friendly way to make the most of your time in Siargao.
