The Archaeological Site of Akrotiri is definitely one of the best things to see in Santorini if you’re into history and archaeology. This site features ruins from the city of Akrotiri, that has been destroyed by the same volcanic eruption that shaped Santorini. The settlement was buried in volcanic ash, which preserved many of its houses and objects. The excellent condition of this ruined city is really remarkable and worth a visit.
Enjoy the views at Akrotiri Lighthouse
The Akrotiri Lighthouse is located on the most southwestern tip of the island. It is known for its beautiful views of the island, so impressive! Make sure to rent a car/scooter if you’re planning to go here, because it is impossible to get there on foot! Take a walk around the lighthouse to enjoy the (sunrise, if you’re early) views and get the perfect photo for your memories.
Explore Megalochori
Everyone knows the towns of Oia and Fira, but Santorini has many other beautiful villages to offer! Megalochori is one of those villages. It is a traditional, picturesque village with beautiful architecture all around. The whitewashed buildings and churches create a unique and idyllic scenery that will remain engraved in your memory for ever.
