Our visit to the prestigious Champagne House Taittinger began with a warm welcome in their elegant entrance hall, where luxury and refinement were visible in every detail. We joined a group of around 20 fellow visitors for a guided tour that promised to unveil the secrets behind one of the most iconic champagne brands in the world.
The experience started with an introductory film that beautifully showcased the history and philosophy of Taittinger. To our delight, our small dog was allowed to join us, on leash during the first part of the visit, and later safely tucked into her dog backpack as we descended into the cellars.
The underground chalk cellars, located 18 meters below the surface, were absolutely breathtaking. These historic tunnels, part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, stretch for kilometers and house over one million bottles of champagne. Our guide provided clear and fascinating insights into the champagne-making process, from fermentation to aging, all within these ancient walls that once belonged to the Saint-Nicaise Abbey.
We concluded our visit at the stylish tasting bar, where we sampled two exquisite champagnes: the Brut Réserve and the Prestige Rosé. Each sip was a celebration of craftsmanship and tradition.
