Best waterfall near Sydney: Fitzroy Falls

About 1.5 hours from Sydney, you’ll find Fitzroy Falls in Morton National Park, located in the Southern Highlands of NSW. This breathtaking waterfall drops 80 meters into the lush forest below, and truly is a magnificent piece of nature. Several scenic walking trails provide access to the falls, with Fitzroy Falls Lookout just 150 meters from the Visitor Centre. For an even better view, head to Jersey Lookout, only 400 meters away. To fully experience the area’s beauty, we recommend taking the West Rim Track. This 4.2 km return walk is easy and dotted with numerous stunning lookouts (far more than what’s listed on the park signs). While there’s no entrance fee, parking costs 4 AUD (around € 2,50), but that’s pretty affordable for so much beauty. It’s the perfect day trip for those seeking a mix of adventure and nature.
