Day 7 - bread, hills, and a golden goodbye

Our last morning began at the bakery we’d been eyeing all week: El Colmenero de Alhaurín, a fourth-generation family business known for its craftsmanship (and its own bread museum next door!). Inside, a friendly local shopper insisted we try his favorites. We obliged, of course, and sipped our cappuccinos like locals. After breakfast, we decided to take a little detour to Mijas, a charming white village just half an hour’s drive away. We’d heard about its small bullring and couldn’t resist checking it out. For just three euros, we stepped inside and ended up laughing our way through a playful visit, pretending to be matadors for a moment. Back in Alhaurín, we wandered through town one last time: whitewashed houses glowing in the afternoon light, bursts of flamenco music, and the hum of daily life. Lunch was at Sardina, another authentic gem serving some of the best tapas we’d had all week. As the sun began to set, we headed into the green hills above Alhaurín, following winding trails overlooking the town. That evening, we couldn’t resist one last dinner at Sardina. A perfect ending to our trip.
