At the mouth of the Berchtesgaden National Park, surrounded by the Alps, lies Königssee. This 8 km long, 1250 m wide and 190 m deep lake is a must-see while visiting Bavaria. The best part? You can go swim in it too.
For the best swimming spots, you will have to take the boat. I'd recommend going to Salet and have a swim at the Obersee first, and then make your way to St. Bartolomä for more sandy beaches.
The water temperature is cold though. In june it reached about 13 degrees. Don't let that hold you back to take a plunge in the crystal clear waters of the Königssee though.
