A night in the Creek Cabin at Hyssna Forest Resort

Accommodation

€ 500 - 1.000

Me after spending 2 minutes in this cabin: “Should I move here?” I arrived at Hyssna Forest Resort late in the evening, just as the forest slipped into twilight. And that’s exactly how driving through the trees felt; like entering a movie, a completely different world. Very mysterious. At the reception, we were welcomed so kindly that it immediately felt like the right place to be. Candles and firepits were glowing, the smell of woodsmoke hung in the air, and everything had that cozy, inviting atmosphere that makes you slow down. We got the key and were told we’d be staying in the Creek Cabin. From there it was a short walk downhill, about five minutes through the woods, until we finally reached our home for the night. Seeing the cabin for the first time was overwhelming. The rain had started by then, and instead of being annoying, it just added to the mood. The Creek Cabin really fits that kind of weather. Tucked between the trees, perched above a little stream, with candles already lit and the hot tub waiting outside, it looked like something out of a dream. The water flowed right under the cabin in small waterfalls through the forest. Inside, the cabin felt warm and simple in the best way. It’s shaped like a pyramid, with everything finished in wood. There’s a small bathroom, a kitchen with everything you need, and a cozy sitting area with big windows looking straight into the forest. Upstairs, the bed overlooks both the creek and the hot tub. Dinner was waiting for us in the fridge, and even though the rain kept us from using the outdoor grill, cooking in the kitchen was all we needed. The food was delicious, by the way. We ended the night in the hot tub, listening to the rain, before heading inside to sleep. The next morning we woke up early to make the most of our time. After a freezing dip in the creek, the hot tub felt even more incredible. We lit a couple of small fires, just because we could, and watched the forest slowly wake up around us. Breakfast was delivered in a little wooden box further up the slope, filled with so much food that we could easily take our time. You can eat it outside on the picnic table or inside with the forest view. I loved how much thought went into all the details, from the eco-friendly soaps to the games you can play inside on a rainy day. Hyssna Forest Resort has three cabins in total. Alongside the Creek Cabin, where I stayed, there is the Treetop Cabin high up among the pines and the Cliffhanger Cabin perched on the rocks. Each has its own atmosphere, but they all share the same closeness to nature and everything you need but nothing too much. The Creek Cabin gave me exactly the kind of stay I’d been dreaming of. This trip was made possible in collaboration with Tourism West Sweden.
