Rafting on the Dunajec

The highlight for most visitors to Pieniny National Park is a traditional raft trip on the Dunajec River. Flowing between Slovakia and Poland, the river marks the natural border, and from spring through autumn you can drift downstream on a two-hour journey. The wooden rafts are guided by the Goral, the mountain people who have lived here for generations and know the waters by heart. At the end of the ride, you can return to the starting point on foot, by bike, bus, or taxi. The path back follows the river—beautiful, but after already soaking in the views, we opted for the easier option and hopped in a taxi.

Afternoon
Jarabina, Slovakia

Jarabin gorge

Near Jarabin is a small gorge formed by the Maly Lipnik. It's a very short (but steep) walk down the gorge. We walked around a bit, but you can also do the hike of about 5km.

Vyšné Ružbachy, Slovakia

Vyšné Ružbachy

It's a known spa retreat in Slovakia and home to the Ružbašský kráter, a small Travertine Lake that looks like a krater. There are several beautiful buildings to discover and a nice park. Great place for a picknick or, if you have more time, a treatment.
