Go out in the city with the family treasure hunt and soak up the atmosphere of the trendy city life in Turnhout. Trendy spots and cool play areas: check!

On discovery in Turnhout
Start your family weekend with a visit to the information office of Visit Turnhout at the Grote Markt.* The city map "Wegwijs door Turnhout" guides you through the most beautiful historical spots. Sounds boring? With the family treasure hunt - full of puzzles and cool tasks - the kids are guaranteed to be in the lead! Are the kids a bit older? Then the interactive city game 'Comic Quest' is definitely a hit. Download the free app on your smartphone and collect the missing comic elements. Keep your eyes wide open during your discovery through the city, as you will also spot a lot of colorful street art along the way. The story behind these artistic gems can be read at www.kindmetinktvlekken.be. *Note: the information office will move in October 2024 to P.J. Brepolsplein 17.
Walk to Herentalsstraat 11 (300 meters).

Time for a break
It's high time for a well-deserved break in the trendy coffee bar Breek. Choose a table in the industrial interior with a retro touch and enjoy one of the homemade sandwiches with catchy names like breekdance, boogiewoogie, or chachacha. The youngest children explore the play area - so you have a little time to yourself! Also nice: there are plenty of vegan and gluten-free options on the menu.
Walk to Begijnendreef 16 (1.1 km).

Playing in the (skate)park
After lunch, you head to Park Begijneveldekens: a surprising piece of greenery near the city where you can play to your heart's content. Time for a game of mini-football or to see who can run the fastest on the Finnish running track. Or would you rather show off your skills in the Jailyard skatepark? So don't forget to bring your skateboard or scooter from home! The little ones have fun in the enclosed toddler playground. Feeling like a snack? Let yourself be tempted by the artisanal ice cream from Chocolaterie Puur (Sint-Antoniusstraat 21).
Walk to Leopoldstraat 5 (700 meters).

Ready-to-eat burgers
Slide all your feet under the table at Smash Burgers & More. Danique and Tomas, a young couple from Sweden, serve 'smashed burgers' where the minced meat is crushed. The result is perhaps the tastiest burger ever! Go for a classic with cheese and bacon or choose the 'freaky sweden'. Eating with your hands is allowed - ideal for the kids!
Jump in your car and drive to Roodhuisstraat 10 (7.7 km).

Comfortable at the campsite
Unwind after a busy day in the center at camping Baalse Hei in the green outskirts of Turnhout. Camp in your own tent or caravan. Want something more? Then choose a sturdy safari tent or luxury ranger lodge. Water lovers can fully enjoy themselves in or around one of the three large ponds. Swimming, rowing, or fishing, it can all be done here!
