Breakfast at AfriCamps Hoedspruit

To start our day we enjoyed a lovely breakfast at our glamping tent. The wide variety of treats gives us the needed energy to be ready for what's coming next.

A boat safari inside the Blyde River Canyon

Most people visit the Blyde River Canyon from above via the Panorama Route. We did the same thing a few days ago. Now it is time to explore the 3rd largest canyon in the world from below. The Blyde River Canyon is the largest green canyon in the world. The lush jungle inside the canyon is the home of a large variety of animals. From baboons, monkeys and even leopards to water animals like crocodiles and hippos. An interesting fact our guide told us was related to the color of the water. From the Three Rondavel Viewpoint up above the river looked blue because it reflects the sky. But from below the river looks different because the reflection of the green canyon walls give it a more greenish look.

Afternoon relaxing at our glamping tent

With a beautiful lakeside lounge area and a hot tub our tent has everything to relax an afternoon in between two activities.

The sunset safari is organized in Khaya Ndlovu private game reserve, a 25 min. drive from AfriCamps Hoedspruit.

Magical sunset safari in private game reserve

To end our South African trip, we saved the best for last! We still haven't seen lions, so we were eager to spot some. From Khaya Ndlovu Safari Manor we joined a small group together with our ranger called 'Lovers' to go on a sunset safari. And oh man ... it was a good one! After less than 40 mins we've spotted 3 male lions! Hearing them roar was an unforgettable experience. Later that night we also spotted a rhino, some cheetahs, a super rare honey badger and we had the chance to take a chameleon on our hands. During the sundowner we toast on a magical evening.
