Papafragas Caves

Get your first taste of what Milos has to offer with a short stop at Papafragas. A unique rocky coastline of caves, crevices and arches, divided by shimmering turquoise water. From the small parking area, you can explore all around the top of the caves.

Sarakiniko Beach Cliffs

From one awe-inspiring landscape to the next, Sarakiniko Beach is the island's most popular spot, and for good reason. The soft creamy-white rocks against the blue ocean makes you feel like you're on a different planet and if you travel early in the season (end of April or May), you might have the whole beach to yourself. one of the undisputed highlights on Milos. Eerie and other-worldly, the beach itself is small but it is possible to lie on the surrounding smooth rock. Arrive at sunrise and you might be the only visitor, or come for an epic sunset experience. There is a car park which serves as the bus stop, and there is a rudimentary canteen for refreshments.

Mandrakia, Greece

Mandrakia fishing village

A short drive ahead, you will find one of Milos' many quaint fisherman villages. The locals keep their fishing boats in colourful garage boxes lining the water edge, as protection against the wild winter seas. Firopotamos is another similar village worth a visit, which also has a great beach for a refreshing swim.

Ancient theatre of Milos

Did you know the island of Milos is where the world-famous Venus de Milo statue originates from? Although the exact finding place has remained a mystery, there are still other impressive remnants of the island's prosperous past. The ancient theatre in particular is a well-preserved, and recently restored, marble wonder, that offers panoramic views over the Aegean Sea. Nearby you can also visit the historic catacombs.

Tiny Klima

Save the cutest fishing village till last (at least in my opinion) and drive down to Klima, with the typical coloured garages (many of which have been converted to B&B's).

Overnight at Aqua House

Speaking of converted fisherman's houses, treat yourself to a luxurious stay at Aqua house, a boutique accommodation at a private rock pool overlooking the ocean. Enjoy the spacious studio and fall asleep to the sound of the water.
