Visiting Mussenden Temple and crossing a rope bridge!
Visiting Mussenden Temple and the ruin of the old house/castle. It is a beautiful temple on the edge of a cliff overlooking the ocean, beach, Portsteward and even the Republic of Ireland. Carrick-A-Rede has a rope bridge to a small island, with great views and a beautiful walk to the bridge. It is very save to cross the bridge.
Mussenden Temple
The temple is located on a a cliff which you can walk to past the ruins of an old house and castle. You'll get breathtaking views. You can take your time and hike around. You can see Portsteward on your right and Ireland on your left. And below you is a beach where you can park your car on the beach! From there you have a nice view of the temple and the tunnel for the train that is in de cliff!
A 40 minute drive to the Rope Bridge.
Carrick-A-Rede
On the edge of the seaside town of Ballintoy you can find the National Trust site of Carrick-A-Rede. It has a rope bridge you can cross for a fee to a small island. Crossing the rope bridge is an experience in itself! It is a short walk of about 20 minutes to the small gate which is guarded where you can cross the bridge. Some people walked slowly and held the rope and others nearly skipped over it. It is very sturdy and a fun experience in combination with amazing views!
